Tweed weekender

It was Nicks 30th not long ago. To celebrate last weekend a few of us headed out into the country to his families property in the Southern highlands. The objective was simple. Eat well, drink well, play board games and do a little bit of fishing on the side. Its a long drive from Melbourne so we had to make the most of it…

Learning to cast (and quickly!)

Learning to cast (and quickly!)

The theme for the weekend was tweed, so we all looked pretty damned fine. On the fishing front, we got in a few sessions. We landed a few rainbows and a brown. Nick spooked a monster trying to get a cast into an impossible lie in one of the creeks. A couple of folks who had never played with fly rod before had a cast and enjoyed it. The dogs had a ball. We ate well, Nick made some killer pork rolls, Perrin knocked up a stellar lamb stew. The whiskey went down a treat. A few of us re-discovered the delights of fortified wine (as a side note, cask port is apparently the cheapest way to get drunk- cheaper for each unit of alcohol than anything else. Thats why we used to take in on all our camping trips), its ace. And thats how we finished off the trout season. In style. Cant wait to do it all again soon…
